Description
Complete the MTO-approved theory component through flexible, self-paced online learning, followed by individual in-car instruction.
About the Beginner Driver Education program
The complete program includes 20 hours of theory instruction, 10 hours of flexible instruction and 10 hours of one-on-one in-car training.
- Completion deadline: All theory, flexible instruction and in-car training must be completed within one year of the course start date.
- G1 licence: A G1 is not required to begin the theory portion, but it is required before any in-car lesson. Students may register up to three months before turning 16.
- In-car scheduling: The theory component must be completed before in-car lessons are scheduled. Please submit the BDE in-car request at least two weeks in advance.
- Pick-up and drop-off: Pick-up and drop-off are included for scheduled BDE in-car lessons, subject to location and instructor availability. If an address is outside our regular service area, a convenient meeting point closer to the service area may be arranged.
- Course completion: Graduates may request a Driver’s Licence History from ServiceOntario as proof of BDE completion and may qualify for an insurance discount.
Course timing depends on student and school availability. Completion of BDE does not guarantee success on a government road test.
